Yes. In the opera, the lovely servant girl Ninetta is about to be put to death for stealing silver forks and spoons, but at the last minute the silverware is found in the magpie’s nest.
I take it some of these are thieving magpies, as in the opera “La gazza ladra” by Gioachino Rossini.
